Rachel and Rob at Hummingbird House

You know how every once in awhile you're at a wedding where EVERYONE is supremely happy? Not just the bride and groom and their families, but everyone including the flower girl and ring bearer and everyone getting down on the dance floor and the maid of honor does karaoke in her toast and one of the groomsmen plays "I Will" by the Beatles on acoustic guitar as part of HIS toast and... oh, wait. That's totally unique to Rob and Rachel's wedding and it was AWESOME.

Normally for a sneak peek I'd post three or four photos, but, um... well. Here are about 20. And this doesn't even go past the ceremony! Expect part 2 sometime next week, with shots of their fabulous reception. ;)

Rachel and Rob, thank you SO much for letting me be a part of this day. It was spectacular, and so are the two of you.

(Huge thanks to the amazing Katherine Harte for shooting with me and also to the great folks at Hummingbird House!)

A Family at Home - Part I

This spring has been a funny one... cold, then warm, then rainy and cold again. Outside shooting has been unpredictable at best, so I was really excited to get to do the kind of session I love best: a family in their home.

Morgan and Ryan asked me to come take some photos with their new baby boy and their two year old at  home, which they are actually in the process of selling; they were set to move the week after we did this shoot, so I love that we got some photos of them in the house where they brought their babies home. Isla is SO much fun (she liked playing with my camera, and I was happy to oblige... photographer in the making, perhaps?) and baby River was so mellow and calm. Here are just a few of the digital shots I got... I'll be picking up their film scans from the lab on Monday, and I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Unexpected

Sometimes I just like to catch them when they aren't looking.

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back

Helloooo there! Yes, I'm still here. Yes, I'm still alive. Yes, I'm still taking photographs.

And yes, welcome to 2013! In news from the past three months, I'd like to post photos of all the amazing families who did holiday card shoots this year, as well as one of my favorite families who were my LAST shoot of 2012 AND my first shoot of 2013 (holla, Watsons!), since they did a maternity/family shoot and then were kind enough to have me back to take newborn/family photos with their adorable new addition. I'm loving newborn shoots these days, since babies seem to grow overnight!

Here are a few from their session... and I'll do a quick teaser that I'm changing some things up in 2013. Be on the lookout! A few hints: film, film, and more film. :)

Melissa and Carl in Dripping Springs

There are a lot of things I could say about this wedding, and probably none of them would actually do them justice. Melissa and Carl are a fun, hilarious, adventuresome couple and let's just start with the fact that they chose to get married out on their land in the Hill Country, and that Carl built a deck/porch for them to get married on. And I was thinking "oh, a deck. That's nice." But no, people. He built a DECK.

It was not small. (Also, the groom does back flips. More on that later.)

In any case, their wedding was filled with moments and hilarity and people who loved them, and I'm so glad they asked me to be a part of capturing that day.

Congrats, Melissa and Carl!
